I did it! I accomplished something this past year! Last year I walked in the Christmas parade holding the banner that is across the trunk. Yes it was COLD! I told my husband after the parade that I wanted a hippie bus for next year’s parade.
I searched all over high and low, E-bay, Craigs List, asking family & friends to keep a look out for one. Nothing I found that was drivable was in my price range. I gave up.
Soon after I got the idea for a hippie bug. Same thing, I looked all over and asked family & friends to look for one with me. I did fine one close, in my price range that said it was drivable. When I contacted the owner he said I would have to tow it home. That wouldn’t work as it was about an hour away. I gave up again.
I eventually told my husband that I would sell my 1999 Mustang if we could find a drivable bug. Several weeks later he and the boys were out walking and he called me…..”Guess what I found? It looks like it’s in pretty good shape, too.” The next day I called the number on the FOR SALE sign, got the stats and price and told the guy it was sold and my husband would be over shortly to look at it. That afternoon I drove it home. First time I’d driven a standard since the summer of 1988!
Yes, the Mustang is gone. I love driving the bug, as if you couldn’t already tell with the last few days of posts about it

Nothing fancy yet, there still is work that needs to be done before the most awesome paint job you’ve ever seen on a VW Super Beetle gets done. Just wait………
I plan on parking the bug for the winter, and getting it out occasionally.
