The Smelly-Mobile

Tonight the Smelly-Mobile will be in the Christmas parade!  I’m  SO EXCITED!  Sure is better than walking and freezing my toes off like I did last year.  Ok, so my toes didn’t freeze off and I still have them.   I think we’re gonna put some pretty Christmas lights on it and the smelly-banner on the hood  trunk (it’s in the front remember).  As long as the weather doesn’t turn too cold the boys will be handing out candy too.  Check the wrappers for money saving coupons!

In other smelly-mobile news……Actually before Halloween the bug was under the weather again.  The generate light had been on for some time, but I kept driving it.  I know silly me right?  Well, it got to the place where it wouldn’t even start.   Yes I know I said I DROVE it out to the church…..I cheated.  Hubby hooked up his jump-box to the battery and I drove it that way.  Don’t worry it wasn’t TOO far.  Anyway shortly after we brought it home after Halloween, we got things figured out and got it fixed.  At first we weren’t sure if it was really still a generator of if it had been converted to alternator.  We went back to the guy we got it from, and he told us that it WAS a generator, and that the brushes needed swapped out.  He gave us a pair and we were set to change them.  What a challenge.  We got it done though.  We had to replace the battery too, but  I’ve been driving it almost every day since!

We also got a little more history about the bug.  It has a ’69 beetle motor in it.

This past weekend we changed the oil in it for the first time.  Wasn’t too bad.  Sure was easier than newer vehicles.
